These stories celebrate the unsung sheroes who, due to unexpected circumstances, have grown in faith and are shining more brightly in the light of God’s story for their lives. These stories remind us of the familiar and the completely foreign, bringing women together across the divides of the unknown and the different. Davenia Lea is the founder of a nonprofit organization, Mazuri Ministries, designed to empower and encourage women. She also produces and co-hosts The Didn’t Ask to be a Hero Podcast which shares the amazing stories of ordinary women living extraordinary lives. As a former researcher and professor, she’s always had a passion for writing and now she writes full-time. She debuted her first book, Naked and Unashamed, in March 2017 with an expected release of her second, Deliver Us from eviL in November, 2024. She considers herself a called-out, Jesus-loving, big-hearted, true worshipping work in progress. Most importantly, she’s a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and a faithful servant of God. Her favorite Bible text is Jeremiah 29:11 and she waits in confident expectation that God’s continued plans for her are exceedingly and abundantly more than anything she could ever ask or hope for.
