
Vanessa Sheppard
Dr. Vanessa Sheppard is an award-winning cancer researcher and higher education administrator, a wife, a mom and a fierce servant of God. She served as the interim founding dean of a new School of Public Health at Virginia Commonwealth University. after having advanced through the administrative ranks from director to chair, and then to associate director, and associate vice president. A hallmark of Dr. Sheppard’s leadership and scholarship is her commitment to involving community members in co-creating strategies that improve care and outcomes. She has received numerous awards from national and community-based organizations and in 2023, she was honored as the American Cancer Society Researcher of the Year.
Dr. Sheppard is the wife of her college-sweetheart, mom to two amazing young men, and is sharing her story of faith to impact the lives of others affected by cancer.
